I have been reading everything on this site since right before christmas, and it seems as everyone knows whats going on.
So i first bough the m-audio mobile pre usb with a m-audio nova mic for 200 american. But then i realized, im more of a musician than a computer guy.

so i pawned it for 125 and now i am pretty sure i am buying...

!. Fostex VF80EX with cd burner.

2. MXL 990/991 package ...this

is this a good combo? I am extremely poor, just a student haha. any other suggestions? i can dish out 100- 150 on mics so thats my price range.

Oh i plan on doing pretty much just acoustic and vocal stuff. please enlighten me!

thanks so much !

It should work out well for you. You can do all the mixing and mastering onboard the VF80, so you probably have more than you need for simple acoustic/vocals. The VF80 has phantom power for condensor mic, too.

Just try to record as far as you can away from your unit, because you'll pick up hard drive noise from it with condensor mics (they pick up EVERYTHING).

thanks! i was also looking the behringer b1 mic, any thoughts on that?

I've never used it. Post the question in the mic forum. That's where the experts hang out. They can tell you what you want to know about.
