Hi,

I am thinking of making a home studio in this room that it is not rectangle (please find attachment)

After long time thinking, I think this is the best idea because at the same time it is like I am having bass traps in the front wall. And by moving the red wall (proposed) backwards, the room is more rectangular and at the same time eliminating corners.

Any help and comments please?

So I'm close mic'ing my drums also 1 or 2 overheads, pictured below is my gear to accommodate so many mics. Somehow i have play each drum/Cymbal and assume set a non-clipping level for each channel. it's just me so I have to do this myself. I did think ahead a bit, my gear is now on a rolling table and all mic cables are 50'. these rack pieces are link with optical, the bottom piece is my audio interface(Scrarlett 18i20) the othe 2 pieces are Behringer ADA8200 8-channel Microphone Preamp. If I roll the gear to a reachable location from my throne I can probably set it channel level however moving the gear disconnects the usb connection to my pc. Does that sound like a feasible solution or should everything be setup on my custom table and have someone help me?

after thought; the table Is now setup in sections left being midi controls or keyboard and the right other gear and where I write, the center is my monitors and 2 HS5 and HS8 sub. this scramble of info just give you an idea of my layout

First, GREAT choice in surge protection! Tripp-Lite is the only product I will use and most of it vintage from their Chicago manufacturing days.

Second, I’m STILL and avid believer in analog consoles and having a button, knob, or slider to engineer sound. I mix by ear, not by software.

You have concrete walls, floor, and fireplace. As-is that room will need treatment to tame all of the reactions you’ll get. Expensive? No, unless you go through a site like Auralex. Search online for Owens-Corning # 703 (2’ x 4’ panels 2” thick) and Owens-Corning #705 (2’ x 4’ panels 4” thick that are best to put in the corners to absorb low frequency buildup or another product name Rockwool.

You can order this stuff direct from a supplier in raw form or spend unnecessary money (unless you’re loaded in cash) from a fancy, wrapped and framed retailer. In general OC 703 and 795 and Rockwool is rigid fiberglass. From a supplier you can order a box of 6.

AND available on Amazon as well as other online retailers. With the orientation of board mix position and drums oriented in front of a 90 degree corner, the concrete surfacing of the room, I would start with 2 boxes of 703 2” and at least one box of 705 4”.

Orientation of my drums in my live room/control room combo was similar to yours but a 5-piece kit and my mix position was where your fireplace is. Two condenser mic overheads separated (Shure SM81 Omni matched pair), close mic dynamic inside kick (Audio Technica original ATM25), snare (bottom and top) SM57s batter an reso, and toms (Sennheiser 604 3-piece kit). OH’s picked up all cymbals and some room then would mix kick and snare heavy and Tom mics as needed to taste. I’ll bet you’re getting a good drum mic sound to tape

If you are referring to me haha probably not until this Summer/Fall, I have a 9 to 5 job so I can only take stabs at it on the weekends
