hi everyone,

i have a behringer c3 condenser microphone, a behringer ultragain 100 preamp that i use to connect to my laptop or pc.

im trying to set up a cheap but a decent recording set up to record my demo acoustic songs.

when i set up on my pc, it gives me an ok sound but i cant turn the output of my preamp as it gives be too much noise.

on my laptop however, i get this crazy hssss sound that i cant get rid of!...is it because of my laptop fan that is too loud? does it affect the preamp im connecting it into??

or do i need some other device to up my recoding quality..........like a userinterface or something( which i have no idea wht it does?)

thanks!

It's because you are using the built-in cheap soundcard in your laptop. You need an external USB (or Firewire) audio interface to convert the audio signal to a digital one. The soundcard in your computer is made of of $0.25 worth of components, hence the lousy A-to-D conversion.
