have any of you guys had issues with the sticker CD label (once stuck to your CD) getting jammed in your front loading (usually in cars) systems?

I was recently at a wedding, where the everyone was given a CD with the bride and grooms fav tunes with one of those do-it-yourself labels on top. We figured we'd pop it in on the way home, and the damn thing got jammed in my car CD player (too tall with the sticker applied?). As a last stitch effort, I jammed another CD about half in, and it was able to kind of grab hold and eject them both...

I'm thinking of sending out a demo or two and don't want to slap on some fancy sticker label if the freakin' thing get's jammed in someone's CD player. That wouldn't be a very good first impression.

Anyone know anything about this?
 
I can't remember where I saw it, but some company has a REALLY inexpensive thermal printer out there... I mean REALLY inexpensive. It was also very limited (only a few lines of text, no artwork), but it might be just the thing.

Search for "thermal cd printer" and see what comes up at Google.
 
Labels are dead.

The new Epson "R" series printers will print directly to a printable CD. The "R200" is only $99 and prints using 6 separate color tanks giving incredible color. You can lightly spray a clear fixative to gloss them up, too.
 
Hey thanks guys! yeah, that full color option sounds pretty good to me! I'll check it out, but for now, I just need to do a couple lables. I'll probably pick one of thoes up if I'm going to be selling some CD's at shows or something. The paper label is kind of lame I admit, but it's the quickest easiest solution for now.

Also, are those "printable labels" more expensive? I don't remember seeing any cheap or on sale.

On a side note, I got the cheap little memorex label maker at Staples, and tested it out on a CD the same car radio it got stuck and it seemed to work fine.

If you get the Epson R printer, make sure your CD-R's have an inkjet-printable surface on top. You can get some from newegg.com and other places.
