Home before Midnight
©1993 Irwin Abrigo

(V1)
I’m sitting at the phone looking at the door
Waiting on you to come home
I have been setting up awhile
Drinking all the time with you on am mind

I have been thinking where you can be all of this time
It’s an hour away from midnight
You've stay out all day most of the night
It's getting closer to the hour
I don't want to sleep alone tonight
I want you to come back

(Chorus)
I want you to come back home before midnight
I want you to hold you in these arms of mine
Tonight, please don’t make me cry
I want you to come back home
Come back home before midnight

(V2)
I’ve made a lot of calls unto your friends
They said they hadn't seen you all day long
But if I’ve done that you didn’t like
You could have said I was wrong

You could have told me for so long we’ve been together
We’ve never spent a night away from each other
You stay out all day most of the night
It's getting closer to the midnight hour
I don't want to sleep alone tonight
I want you to come back

(Chorus)
I want you to come back home before midnight
I want you to hold you in these arms of mine
Tonight, please don’t make me cry
I want you to come back home
Come back home before midnight

(Bridge)
I don’t want to sleep alone tonight
It’s almost midnight
I want you to come back home in these arms of mine
Come back home before midnight
Come back home before midnight

Come back home
Come back home before midnight
Come back home
Come back home before midnight

(Repeat Chorus)

Some of the phrasing is a bit difficult for me to get into my head on this one. I noticed a c.1993 and that this is a rewrite. Do you have a recorded version somewhere? That might make it a bit easier to follow if it could be heard as well as read. The idea of waiting alone creates a powerless feeling that most of us can relate to on a personal level. I would work on the imagery surrounding that feeling to bring this tune to the next level. Nice story.;)

Glad to have you replying to my post here Up-fidddle.

I don't have the recording of this song as yet. But...I can have you listen to the melody if you are interested in helping out with the music.

Some of the phrasing I am writing that are difficult for you to understand...The reason for that is because of the way we speak here in my country.... Guyana.

Stay well

Irwin
