I just heard my song in the background of some reality show/documentary/movie on MTV! They even credited us at the end! WOW! This isn't supposed to happen. I'm so elated! I'm actually doing it and we're touring soon!

What show? I hate MTV but will make an effort to check it out.
 
a reality show/movie/documentary called FAT CAMP! I fell off the couch! it's been airing since wednesday and will be reairing

I couldn't believe it, but then we're in the credits too! I watched it again Saturday and recorded it! if you want to watch for it, watch during the second hour, it's right after Sublime's song 'summer time'.
 
Congrats man! Excellent timing, getting on MTV and then touring. Is is coincidence or great management? Whichever, it's sweet to hear!

wow, how do you know them, tour? yeah I grew up with one, literally he was my best friend right across the street. weird how we're both in different bands. but I know all of them yes.

if anyone is reading, it's gonna be on now between 9pm and 9:30pm (sunday night) right after the sublime song 'summer time' - you can listen to gwynneth on our web site really quick so you recognize it ;)
 
Did you know that your song was going to be on MTV before you heard it? Seems kind of weird if you didn't know ahead of time.

everyone is saying it's weird that I didn't know, but most people are ignorant... let me clarify. when we released our album, we sent it to mtv with a blanket license agreement that allows them to use the music for any of their shows. they don't need to tell us, we just know that it is a possibility it can be used. it may have been used before and I don't know about it, but I just happened to have this show on in the background.

that said, I really didn't expect them to use any of it, but they did and I'm elated! it was one of those things where you send it not hoping for much, but it couldn't hurt.
 
great news, grn! I'll keep my eyes & ears open in case they repeat the show with your song...

BTW, I just checked out your site, and downloaded your tracks - great stuff! Keep up the good work!

...and "Gwynneth pulchritudinous" is a great line. I love it when songs force me to go to a dictionary. :D

Not to take this thread into a different topic, but I'm a little fuzzy on this myself -- what are the advantages of either one? Anyone have suggestions/recommendations?
 
I have done extensive reading and basically they are about the same, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, but they about equal out. ASCAP apparently pays better some of the time, but then BMI does other times. I'm going to ask some of my friends who have already joined and are successful with music tomorrow.
