Oh man back to drinking...

I had posted earlier about having issues while recording MIDI data from my Fatar SL-161 controller to my Audigy 2 card using Cakewalk Pro 9. [starts to cry]

At first I thought something was wrong with the software....

Then the controller...

Then the Soundcard...

Then Software... OS maybe...

But then I had thought I narrowed it down to the soundcard and solved the issues. Well obviously I hadn't.

To recap:

When attempting to record controller data from the Fatar using a MIDI track within Cakewalk, all data gets sent to the spot where the track started. [ie, if the current position was at 00:00:00 then all data goes there, and stacks upon itself] I even used alternate controllers the result was the same.

I have tried so many different settings it's unbelieveable... then different MIDI cables, reinstalled software, drivers, considering redoing OS [shudder], but then I installed Sonar 2.2 Demo. And not even a hiccup everything works flawlessly.

It appears it has something to do with the MIDI devices that are available and then selected for INPUT OUTPUT within the MIDI options.

>:(]

So there must be something with Cakewalk Pro 9 then just isn't wanting to jive wit me... (another shot of Grey Goose Orange)...

I was in the middle of project when all this happened. I'm not sure what else to do or look at.

For those mystics who might have insight DAW recap os:

Abit VP6 - (VIA Chipset)
1GHz (1x)
1GB PC133 RAM
Ti4200
D-Link 530+TX
Belkin USB 2.0 (PCI Card - Actually a RealTEK chip)
WD40GB 7,200 IDE (Single Channel)
WD100GB 7,200 IDE (Single Channel)
Sony DVD drive (Single Channel - Forget the model not at home right now.)
Audigy 2 Platnium (With HD installed.)

Windows 2000 (SP3)
Cakewalk Pro 9 (9.03)

Fatar SL-161 Controller

Thanks in advance guys...

Assuming your intuition is correct, you seem to have left out the most important information. What midi devices are showing up in Sonar 2 that are not showing up in PA9?

If you go to Options > Midi Devices it should give a list of what devices are available and which you have selected. Do you see any differences in the lists in the two programs?

(Notice I avoided the obvious answer - upgrade to Sonar. ACKUS! :) )

ACKUS is a registered trademark of the Acidrock Foundation, Dachay2tnr, Chairman.

All do... in both...

If I remember right the devices installed are:

[IN]
Audigy MIDI IN 1
Audigy MIDI IN 2

[OUT]
Audigy MIDI OUT 1
Audigy MIDI OUT 2
Audigy Synth A
Audigy Synth B
Audigy SW Synth
Microsoft MIDI Mapper
MS GM SW Synth

It's something more or less like that I can't remember totally off the top of my head the names. I had started to believe that it had something to do with the way the MS MIDI Mapper was trying to interact with everything but I have no conclusive evidence of that.

All devices show up for both versions.... :-\]

I'm had thought about purchasing a new MIDI interface but when other software works and one dosn't it usually points to some form of driver or software issue(s)......

Yeah I appreciate the lack of 'so upgrade' response.... I work with computers [sigh] and my favorite is when I have to call another tech at an ISP or something and their like:

"So reboot."

:-|

Thanks again in advance.... ;-D]
