Hole In My Heart

These are a couple of tunes I recently recorded using a BR-8 digital recorder. Nothing fancy. Just a few guitars, keyboard, and effects. What I am working on is a good mix, and vocals and solos that sit well within the mix. I try to get the EQ like I want it before I lay it down so there's less tweaking afterward. Anyway, here's what I've got so far....

Well,.....It kinda looks like this post is going to show everything I've written and downloaded on my Itunes. That's okay, comment on anything you like! LOL!!!

Hole In My Heart. Very Nice. VERY nice. Guitar and mandolin and dobro sounds great. Bass sits nicely. I love this. I really like the New Grass stuff. Are you playing everything? I can't hear anything that hits me as "wrong". I do hear some kind of low frequency hum.
The Ride. Not on the par with Hole In My Heart. Done well enough but the canned drums REALLY detract from the tune. I just don't get the vocal.
 
Thanks Track Rat. Yes, I play all the instruments. The Ride was just something that was kind of built around a guitar riff. Things were added and layered. It was done just as a fun experiment mostly. The vocal was actually a bit I recorded from the TV at the time and with a phrase sampler I was able to run it forward and backward, stutter it, etc...
 
Hole in My Heart - I even like the string slap. Tasty, well played and recording sounds great.

Once again I say - drop by more often - less than 1 post a year??? :

Thanks, Ido. Most of the stuff I record in my spare I time I would consider unworthy of this forum. Glad you liked 'Hole In My Heart'. I'm beginning to think that was kind of a fluke! Or maybe 'new grass' is my niche...I dunno!!! Gotta few tunes I'm working on. Maybe I'll put up another in the future....
