I was wondering if someone can tell me what i need to work on: I
have a few songs i recorded and I wanted to know if i was doing things right http://www.reverbnation.com/versatile242
I use Adobe Audition 3 and I mastered with Izotope 4...Every song I recorded, I did hook or chours 3 times and panned 2 of the left and right... I record the main vocals one time, doubles 2times panned hard left and right and adlibs once centered

when I play it in my car it do not sound right...the vocals sound weak.

Thank You

Hi versatile,

Not many rapping experts on this site, and I'm not one either, but here's 2 cents anyway... I listened to the first 3 songs on your link.

The mix is pretty good, but could be sharper, keep fiddling with Izotope. Your synth sound is very ethereal, I like your bass treatments. I find your vocal a bit high and lacking richness for rap (but high is popular in rock right now). Also, the attitude is a bit flat. I liked the "angry" voice in "pick the world up" best, and liked the lyrics when I listened to them... although the "n"-word is a bit hard on my white-guy ears because I wouldn't want to use it.

If your thing is rap then work on getting a richer and punchier vocal sound, and simplify the higher synth sounds to bring them down to earth a bit. If your thing is music more generally you might want to explore a few more styles to find what suits you best (you might have a very good voice for ethereal pieces... for example. Your material doesn't remind me of Prince, but he comes to mind as a style you might experiment with).
