What kind of recording setup will you be using live? How many mics, what kind of mics, what type of guitars, what recording platform (n-track?), etc.

The vocal seems a little too up front (in the mix) at times, but as this was done live, it works. Adds that dynamic "live" feel to the recording. The guitars sound good - a bass track would really fill it out, though.

Cheers.

I think this has a very classic country sound. I would like to hear some very subtle bass and drums. I can envision a nice ride cymbal and stuff in the background. Nice work!

Probably the first time I've said this, but the vocals are too loud. Where's the rest of the band?? Ya really needs 'em.

thanks guys,
that's what we've been struggling with, a "too up front vocal"
we're using a peavey bandit 112 lead amp, pre-amped into a peavey mp5plus pa mixer. that set up is inline to the puter with n-track studio. the vocal mic is a Samson C05 plugged into the pa. Lead guitar is an old Fender Lead 2, rythm guitar is an epiphone FG150. The FG150 is plugged into the pa as well.
All input or advice appreciated! we're new at this live stuff lol!

I think soundclick just went down again. I can't get the page to come up. I get this:

Very nice- Great vocals, you're an excellent singer. I agree the vocals are a little too out front and maybe a little high end crispy to me(i'd like a nice classic muddy verb sound for atmosphere on em but...)...Guitars sounded good and well played-you could easily lay down bass and drums over this, since it has a good steady groove, or keep it sparse like this--good song either way.

*edit...James I remembered you from the song "Falling Star" at this http://jamescallen.dmusic.com/ link (hope you dont mind me posting it), but I thought I'd do anyone who hasnt heard that song a favor.. Go listen.
