Highlighting the highs with MXL 990/991 positions on acoustic

I just got the MXL kit 990/991.

Can someone please tell me how close to put these mics so I can get the trebles clear.

I have a Larrivee LV-03e which is pretty bright.

Or should I play with the EQ at the end of the mix?

I have used the 990 on acoustic and I like to place the mic at the 12th fret.


It is a bit harsh mic and mostly sits alone in the corner... I have found an excellent mic for cheap.. The M-Audio Nova is one of the best mic's I have ever used for $100.


Anyway, try it at the 12th fret.. I always seem to end up using a bit of EQ with the acoustic because of the mic and my room..
 
i've used a 993 (basicly a 991) at the 12th fret, & the 990 just outside the soundhole.

or just the 993 at the 22nd fret.

depending on if i'm recording everything at once or not.
