Mr. Moon

Force of Naked
I have not posted any new tunes for a while, due to the usual game of "band-member musical chairs" that most musicians have had to deal with at one point or another. Anywho, I have now connected with a couple of friends from a past collaboration and we have decided to go ahead and reform under the name "Highdroplain" which we used in the past before everything turned to shyte and ...well, you know the story (same old same old).

So, here's our first offering: Not The End

(Yeah, there's another tune there also called "Sometimes I Didn't mind," but that one needs *major* mix work, as it is as close to a non-mixed rough demo as you can get! ...feel free to give it a listen to, if you'd like.)

Please reply with any constructive feedback, positive and negative, regarding the mix, song content/arrangement, or whatever.

Thanks!

Kinda a cool demo..Bass could come down a couple of db's{perhaps a little compression}It jumps a little too much in level. Its also killing the drums soundscape..this is due to different registers sometimes..Guitar is too low in level{in mix} for this type of thing IMHO..The sound is a very preamp type of distortion and is comeing off a bit buzzie..perhaps back off the gain a smidge..it sounds like a all in one box now ala Digitech RP1 or something to that effect...Good stuff..Good luck :)

Thanks for the feedback!

The distorted guitars were actually recorded by micing my Marshall DSL100 through a 4x10 Marshall cab, with too much gain. When we record the final tracks I'll be turning down the gain a bit as I have in most of our tunes we've recorded since this one. Regarding the bass, I'm starting to mix using a new pair of KRK RP8's, which replaced my Alesis M1 MKII's, so I'm having to get used to mixing with the non-hyped low-end of the KRK's. I tend to boost the bass a bit too much, I will have to work on that one too.... :o

The mix sounds kinda cramped. It sounds like everything is straight down the middle and competing with everything else. The guitar is tiny, and the bass sounds, well, not good. I'm really not very experienced with recording bass, but try doing something different.
