at least i hope it's better the 3rd time....
LOL

just finished mixing this, for the 3rd time.
the big experiment continues.
please comment, i've gotten a lot of good feedback on ideas for this so far, i used a bunch of them for this new mix.

while it's fresh in the head:
the guitars, i panned much closer to center.
also, i applied a Neve Compressor plugin to both rhythm guitars, re-eq'd them to get rid of the low end boom (high pass filters on each track) and took a bit of the 'bite' off of them...

panned the backup vox more to the outside, left and right, and re-leveled everything (Sonar automation's great!)

I'm diggin' it, but I really hope you had a buzz while you were writing it.

I know you said you were lookin for a drum track, I am tryin to put somthing very very basic together, thats effective, that accentuates what is going on.. When iget somthing im happy with, ill shoot you an email ;)

ha, glad you're diggin it, and no, i didn't have the buzz while i was writing it, but now that you mention it....

;)

onehandpass
i'd love to hear what you've got...

Cool. Good sounding recordings. Nice guit playing. No nits here. Sounds done to me!!!

Nice job.

thanks GREG L

i tell you, it's way easier mixing a pair of acoustics, than a pair of electrics.
at least, in theory!
LOL

Incanus
thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it.

question:
did either of you guys get to listen to this thru monitors?

i'm questioning a 'woofy' sound i'm hearing on the low end of the guitars, that is only apparent on my surround system at home...

any ideas about what the offending freq might be?
besides myself?!
;)

Ah, yes. I forgot to mention: I listened on headphones.

To look for that frequency that's bothering you, I would try slowly sweeping around with a drastically boosted eq until you hear that sound jump out at you. Then, cut back on that frequency. I've found that helpful a time or two before.

Still working on somthing sutable for the drums, dont fret, ill get em done soon enough ;)

Cant get enough of the track!

Incanus-
yep, i've got some sweeping to do.
LOL
you don't hear it in the headphones..
in fact, i don't hear it in my monitors...
but i hear it thru my surround system.
could be a bogus frequency brought out by the manufacturer's eq settings...
but i want to nuke it anyway.

one hand-
give me a holler, when you wanna.

nice track i couldn't hear no frequency noise i listened on my monitors and my surround sound and heard nuttin it does need some banging drums tho

one hand-

disc is in the snail-mail...

DesertEase -
thanks for checking it out!
yeah, i'm kinda working out the ideas for the 'heavy' version now.....
can't decide how heavy to go, tho..

could be de-tuned, slowed down, death-march style...
could be sped up, cleaned up, twangy, tom petty meets zep style.....

decisions, decisions
;)
