High Pitch Noise Through My Monitors

Ok,

So im just getting started with all this, iv read a few books, took a few classes, and iv now got everything i want in my home studio set up. So i connect up KRK 5's up to my audio interface (Focusrite Saffire PRO 14) and turn it all on and the horror starts. My monitors seem to be picking up the (to my human ears) very quiet noise the power supply in my computer makes. So i did some troubleshooting and found out the noise will only occur when the FireWire cable from my computer to my interface is connected. Also, (i dont know if this matters) the noise will happen if i connect my monitors with TRS cables, or through SPDIF ports.

What can i do to get rid of this noise without replacing my power supply?

Could be a grounding issue.

Are you using a laptop? If so, check if the noise is there when running off battery.

If not, have a look on your Saffire Pro to see if there's an option to set the ground to 'lift', or similar.
 
Thanks for the reply, i am using a desktop and i checked my interface and dont see anything about setting the ground physically and software wise.
 
Grounding issue, digital earth loop, do a search, I have answered this heaps of times.

Thanks! i found one that should do the trick. Ill update once it gets here.
 
So i actually went out and bought a brand new power supply, and bought a whole power outlet with a ground loop eliminator within it and no luck, still have the noise through my speakers. I can hear the exact noise in my computer iv tried removing things 1 by 1 from my computer but no matter what i remove its still there. I tried removing audio card, video card, HDD, disk drives, and no luck the noise is still there. I dont know if it is the motherboard creating this noise i sure hope not but im completely out of ideas. anybody??
 
One last thing ..... if everything is plugged into the same circuit (and it should be) try plugging your computer into a totally different circuit from the other side of the house.
 
wait do you have a web cam or internal microphone on your desk top?
 
Get some fifty-year-old ears... problem solved. ;)

You needed to buy the hum eleminator that I have suggested in my other posts, The power outlet with ground loop eleiminator works on the incoming mains, not the audio to digital earth problem you have. Like this.
