High notes, easier way?

Whenever we sing in the extreme parts of our range, it can really test how strong our voices are - and show what needs some work as well. What I hear is that your chest voice isn't fully engaged, so that it can properly coordinate with falsetto as you get higher to keep the larynx from coming up and shutting off the air.

It's not hard to fix, but lessons with a *good* teacher would help (as opposed to listening to someone on a forum :) ).

Cool, thanks for the reply. I might looking into getting a good singing teacher ;)

A lot of times what I will do is kind of "scoop in" to hit the high note instead of going straight for it. Helps a ton.

I have a deep voice and its very hard for me to hit anything very high, so a lot of times on original songs I've found that sometimes key changes are necessary in a pinch.

Hi :D It's either you improve your vocal range or falsetto. Or you can also use another version of the song :D

A couple of things your singing teacher will teach you is how to "support" your note by using neck and abdominal strength. You need strong core muscles there: for those high notes, you're basically going to tighten your throat and then squeeze hard in your abdomen so that the notes are supported. Difficult to describe but once you get it, it'll make sense...

...to be fair though, you do a pretty good job Harry!
