I have two Oktava Mk012 Cardioid Condesnor Mics which i'm currently using for over head drum mic'ing...

I was wondering if they could be used in stereo application to get a sweet recording out of my mesa triple rectifier.

The reason why i mentioned the amp, is because it is high gain, and high volume. The mic's came with a -10 db limiter also.

I have a dual channel mic pre-amp so i can easily do the stereo recordings, and i know you can record things like acoustic guitar with these mic's, but im wondering if i would damage the mics, or anything else if i tried to record my amp with them.

I'd put the -10 db pads on them, but they should be alright.

Any recommended distance away from the amp? Also positioning like XY or other (i guess that would be more of a play around thing, i'm just more worried about distance because i don't want to damage them...)

Those mics are used on drums which are a lot tougher on mics than a guitar cab. I wouldn't worry too much about hurting them.

You can try putting them a few feet apart and a few feet in front of the amp. Or put one up close and the other a few feet back. Pan to taste.
