I just want to say hi as I'm new here, but I also really need some help if at all possible. My system is old ('01) but should be plenty capable of handling Fruityloops and playing DVD movies. It's got an Athlon 1200 Thunderbird processor, 256 RAM, with a 40 gig Seagate hard drive, 24-bit soundblaster card, crap on-board video. I had a 7 gig hard drive with Windows '98 on the same system before which ran Fruityloops 3.4 perfectly after I changed the buffer settings. Now on the 40 gig, I cannot get the most basic song on FL 3.4 or FL 5 to play without horrible stuttering and clipping. On my brother's very similar computer (video card, 200more mhz on CPU) I can load up Fruityloops 5 with tons of VSTi's before noticing a big hit. I've ran all malicious program killers, I've done all the XP tweaks, buffer changes, everything. When it sits idle, the CPU meter is around 50%. play the song, and it's instantly at 100. everything else seems to run great, but FL and my DVD player MAXING the CPU.

Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated
