Folks,
I don't usually visit this corner of the board, so I apologize in advance if I forget to check back for followup quesitons.
Following is a neat trick I figured out, to hide unwanted plug-ins in Sound Forge version 5.0 and later. It's useful if you have a lot of plug-ins that were installed with other programs, and you'd just as soon not have to wade through several menus full of stuff you never use.

To prune the display of DirectX plug-ins in Sound Forge 5.0 or later, to hide those you don't want to see:
1. In RegEdit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, Sonic Foundry, Sound Forge, 5.0 (or your version), DXCache
2. Open DXCache and examine the long list by clicking on each cryptic entry in the left pane while looking in the right pane for plug-in names. Delete keys in the left pane for those plug-ins you want to hide. Some show up more than once, so you'll have to delete them in a few places. NOTE: All of the DirectX system components are listed here too, so don't delete anything you don't recognize. If you do delete something by mistake, simply delete the entire DXCache "folder" as described below.
Related: If SoundForge ever loses track of plug-ins and doesn't show one you know is installed and working, you can force it to reassess all registered plug-ins by deleting the entire DXCache branch.
