Hello! I'm new :-D I'm a music teacher (high school) and I've recently got into recording! I also love singing; although, piano is my main instrument.

A little girl once told me to marry you. Cuz I liked spaghetti so much. lol

Let's just forget I said that ok?

Welcome to the forum!!! :D

Jimmy

Haha thanks guys :-)

My proper name is Kate - you may choose which is easier to call me by :-D.

B-b-b-beautiful Katie, B-b-b-beautiful Katie
Your the only one that I-i-i-i adore
When the m-m-m-moon shines
Over the c-c-c-cow shed
I'll be w-w-w-waiting at the k-k-k-kitchen door.

Howdy Kate!

Welcome, Kate. I am very excited to have you join us, having a (or another) music teacher here will be an asset. Do you teach instrumental or vocal music? I'm guessing vocal, as your instrument is piano, but do tell. There are a forum or two in which your expertise would be valuable- please explore the forums and threads, and feel free to give us the benefit of your knowledge and experience.

Do you think you might be using recording techniques in your classroom? Doing so might make your classroom a "cool" place to be, and you might benefit from allowing your students to use the gear, too. If recording fits into your curriculum, that's even better.

Please, when you have the time, tell us more about you, your work, what you hope to learn from us, and what you might teach us.

Howdy Kate!

Great now Henry is going to go scare off the woman

Haha - it was cute :-D

I have far too many things to learn to leave now anyway :-p. Plus, this place seems pretty cool.

It is a cool place. Plenty of knowledgeable and friendly people here. Well, aside from me. I'm a big meanie. Grrrrrr....lol

Hey :-) I'm excited to be here!

Well, I'm a classroom music teacher in a high school (in Scotland - if that makes any difference to people's knowledge of curricula!) so that involves teaching a bit of everything (primarily keyboard, guitar, drum kit, glockenspiel and voice - these are the typical "classroom instruments"). Some pupils play instruments outside of that list and will get advice from their specialist teacher (I can specialise in piano, violin and sax as well as the above but if you present me with a brass instrument I'll be stuck :-D). The curriculum also includes composition and listening (where they will learn analysis and concept definitions). We do actually teach sound engineering in the school where I work, but I'm rather new to this myself. I'm fairly comfortable with the mixing basics (very basic!) and i can more or less set up the equipment (we use BOSS recorders and mix on Kristal or Audacity - school budgets yeh :-/). I certainly want to learn more as it's something I'm really enjoying and the kids love it too - I'm hoping to do a musique concrete project very soon which could involve even inexperienced pupils with using recording equipment! :-)

I'm definitely hoping to learn from you guys!

Following the recent unplanned demise of kcearl it's good to have another Scot on board to keep the numbers stable...

Welcome Spag, to the circus. And yes, just ask moresound if you have any real questions. No-one else can be trusted.

You might have to put up with the rhyming though...

What ..... my grandfather taught that song to me back in the late 50's and every time I meet someone with that name they get to hear a beautiful song with their name in it.

My grandfather - stage name "Honey" - was an old vaudeville guy. Lots of cool, great memories attached to that song.

Nice to meet you Kate! you were great in Lost.

what kind of stuff are you interested in recording? what sparked your interest? what are you starting out with for ideas?

(p.s... like all forums... be careful of who you get your "good" advice from.. always consider the source right? :D ) lol
