Hi Hano, and Rocky, and all VS planet refugees!

Just showed up and this BBS looks promising. Also looking forward to compartmental expansion of VS topics *AND* Yamaha AW4416 topics too!

Will contribute sometime soon.

I wanted to say hello to everyone I knew from the past, and jumping over from the VS planet to here. So glad we made it....
I also want to thank the webmaster that he has let's us in. If I remember well, there were over 2165 registred members reading and writing to the VS planet.
I hope soon we'll get some division in users groups witch is quite helpfull considering the many different problems that can occur using the different VS recorders.
Any news from Jeremy?

PS: I must admid that I have slept more lately. (Planet Down period until now) Can anyone help me of this internet addiction? It's been a while since I read a good book.

Hi Phoenix,
Could you help me out on Bouncing tracks to virtual tracks.
I always get confused with other stuff, so I mainly use my VS880EX as a six track with two mastering tracks. Untill now my songs didn't need much more.
I have started recording some friends, and they know about the 258 tracks, but not how to do it..
Any bouncing tips please....
Thanks for any reply. I wish X-Ray was here...

Hi Hano-

Unfortunately, I am currently VS-less. Sold mine recently. I had the VS880xpanded and not the EX. If they are similar then the method is easy to bounce V-tracks. Also, I know this is a basic VS880 operation, so if I'm missing the real question then please forgive me.

By memory, I recall the general procedure involves assigning the inputs to (mix L) and (mix R) respectively for any particular destination tracks, for example: V-Trk 7/1 (Inputs set to mix L)and V-Trk 8/1(Inputs set to mix r.)

Then, just set to *green* all of the playing tracks and to *red* both of the recording V-tracks (with the inputs properly set) and play/record your song as usual.

The six V-tracks getting "bounced" to the two V-tracks will be recorded completely with effects and EQ settings applied.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Furthermore, if your already up to eight V-tracks but find you still need more, then you'll have to obviously bring up an empty V-track for recording on to, thereby replacing the already active V-track with a new one.
This is when sub-mixing segments of the song is needed in order to re-construct multiple V-tracks later in subsequent "bounces."
It's often necessary to re-organize your V-tracks so that it is possible to then "bounce" a specific arrangement. Play around with the *Move* operation and relocate your V-tracks within the V-track grid. This shuffling of V-tracks can get intricatly organized by sub-mixing in frequency zones, or in groups that will have common effects settings applied to them during another "bounce" or during mixdown.
I hope this is helpful.
