I would like to know what a pluggin is? I see it for my acid, cool edit, I have the demo version of cakewalk pro 8 and recently sonic foundry's vegas pro, and when i click on the pluggins for vegas pro, this cakewalk thing jumps in and I do not know what is all about? can anyone help?

A plug-in is used for processing audio in software like cubase, cool edit, sound forge etc. A plug-in can be something like reverb or distortion, compression, delay - whatever the plug-in was designed for. It is not a stand alone effects processor, it is used in combination with any software that supports directX plug-ins.
