I am having a problem with getting volume out of my DBX 376 mic tube preamp.I am using a Sennhiser 865 condenser mike and recording with an Echo Mia soundcard into Cubase SX.Could you help me with some basic settings for vocals to help me get started ?? Any help I would sure appreciate

You have the phantom power turned on, right?

Just do some basic gain staging, starting from the mic preamp. Sing into it (or whatever you're doing) until the level is good. Then move to the soundcard in. Set the levels there. Then move to Cubase, and set the levels there.

Thanks for replying to my post.
Ok,I do not have my phantom power on as the person who plugged it in said it would be bad to put the phantom power on with the DBX 376???.My soundcard level settings are on high and the level slider will not move,Cubase I have to about +379 or so above 0Dbs
this is the situation, thanks for the help. What should I do?

Well there's your problem, then. Condenser mics 99.9% of the time need phantom power to operate. Dynamic mics usually 99.9% of the time do not.

Try that.

??????
Turn the phantom on and enjoy your music.

Do I use my phantom power box to turn it on or is there a phantom power "button" on the DBX??

Plug your mic into DBX. It has a phantom switch--turn it on.
