Hey guys whats up? I was wondering..if Ive a US 122 and im trying to work midi via an m-audio controller....what do i set my ins and outs to?? I know how basic this must be...but I've spent alot of money updating stuff and now i don't know how to work it. The midi works fine with Ableton live 4, just not cubase. Also, which is preferable; 24 bit ASIO or 16 bit ASIO? Again, sorry for the basic questions.

Use the 24 bit ASIO. (this doesn't have anything to do with your MIDI though).
For Midi, set the input to the US-122 and then the outs to whatever instrument you want sound from. If you're using a VST instrument, then enable that on the track you're using and set the output to that.

When I get home from work I'll check my exact settings and get back with you, unless you let me know that you've figured it out.

Hi!

Man you are a legend! I'd buy ya a pint if you lived in Ireland. I set my inputs to 'All Midi Devices' and set the output to a virtual instrument. Thing is im using Cubase and i nly have a virtual bass and drums...how do i go about getting pianos and strings? Is that what you call general midi?

Sorry about the delay in replying. Got a little sidetracked with the holiday weekend here in the States. Now that you have it working, but need more sounds, go to

http://www.kvraudio.com/

Find the downloads area for free VST instruments.

http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=results&st=q&s=1

There are hundreds of links to free downloadable instrument plugins that you can use in Cubase - synths of all flavors, organs, pianos and more. Just follow the readme files that come with each download and you should be set.

All the best,

JD

P.S. Only a legend in my own mind ;)
