I've just went out and bought a load of stuff to hopefull record some songs.

Cubase
Alexis dd50 drum pad machine
new bass guitar
new guitar
new mic and mic boom stand
acoustic guitar
keyboard
guitar jack to usb cable.

problem i've ran into right away is the connection to the pc from instrument.

when i plug any instrument into pc using the jack lead to usb there is delay..... i've tried using asio4all but no matter what i change in the setting i hear no difference.
also when i connect the drum machine to the pc using the jack to usb lead it is delayed but there is also a constant hissing noise.

my pc is a year or two old with 8gb of ram....

am i going to need to spend more money or is there a fix around for this using software downloadable from the net ?

cheers.

If you want to record guitars, keyboards and vocals without latency (delay), then you should consider getting an audio interface, rather than relying on a USB adapter.

So yes, you will need to spend more money.

anything else ? do i need to get a sound card or will the onboard one do when i get the AI ?

Also side question has anyone use a drum machine similar to mine ? with the kick and hi hat pedals works through trigger pedals on the ground.... i find them to be slightly delayed opposed to just hitting the pads on the unit.... i have just switched one of the pads on the unit to be the kick drum as its much more responsive than the floor pedal wire thing.

What you're hearing is latency. (the delay) If you want to record you honestly really need an audio interface. You can get one for as cheap as 50 bucks used on ebay. The Presonus Audiobox is a decent little interface, it's 99 new but can be found on ebay. Good luck!

Hi,
An AI totally replaces your soundcard.
You don't need to physically remove or disable the soundcard, but the AI will take over it's input and output duties. :)
