She's pretty bright, but she's not writing songs about the pretense and hypocrisy of higher education...yet.
And while she's bright, she apparently hasn't figured out how to punch into tracks...When I opened up the session to see where all my hard drive space had gone, the lead vocal and guitar was on track 1...so that's one take...then there's a loooong track 2 which has about 1/2 of the backups...then there's an EVEN LONGER track 3 which has fewer backups...lol, then there's like, a little bit here on track 4, and maybe some here on track 5...All in all, she managed to cover 17 tracks with (basically) 3 vocals, lol.
I can see why, though...she didn't use a metronome when she laid down the vocal/guitar track, so she was kinda' guessing about where the other parts would come in, lmao. I had to do a lot of splitting and "nudging" on those backups to get them to kind of sync up, but I'm not telling her until she comes back to this. I predict she'll eventually find the "mixdown" button, and I will be treated to a gleeful rendition of the tune that has all the coherence of 12 dispirited dogs barking at the pound.
Then I figure I'll do something mean, like ask her why she didn't just use the "sync and sonify" feature, at which time I will proceed to "mix" THIS version of the song (already in a seperate folder on my hard drive) in under 1 minute.
Then I'll let her try to find THAT button for awhile, lol.
Oh, btw - those "Effects" that pop up randomly throughout the song, those were not inspired by artistic vision on my part, lol...they were edits that I just couldn't mask any other way.
That's "sonification," btw.
Thanks again for listening; gotta' go listen to Al's daughter, who I'm sure is gonna' totally piss me off, lol.
I won't be able to respond to this thread anymore, but if you comment, please know that I appreciate the listen, and I'll read whatever you post, and I probably won't even hold it against you, unless you're Jake, and you tell me this is clipping, and then make some lewd comment about my daughter.
Thank You Clinic (*again*)
