Damn...I didn't see all these other Forum Topics.
Well, Hey everyone I'm Danny and as you probably know, I'm new to the forum and to recording. I hope (and am sure) that you guys could give my band and I a few helping hands. I already posted in the Other Equipment area, so here's basically what I'm using.

Acid Pro 6 (now expired so I'm screwed)
Kramer Focus VT11s
Line 6 Spider III ( Straight from record out to PC )
Some adapter of some sorts that the 1/4 jack cable goes into, and comes out Mic In.
Sound quality is pretty damn good, I'm guessing I have a good soundcard.

Also, if I could just know what the basic equipment for recording guitar, vocal and drums are, (underline and highlight basic) I would appreciate that and compare that to what I'm using now.

Cheers from Canada

Danny

Well, ignoring the equipment you own already - the basic gear you would need to record vocals, drums and guitar (digitally) are;

Computer (Good enough to handle a few tracks of audio)
Dedicated sound card (Might want to look at M Audio Audiophile 2496 if your on a budget)
Microphones - You might want to split this up into sections and venture into the Microphone forum (If you dare....). Again, if your on a budget you could buy a mic that could work in more than one area (Ie, Shure SM57 for Snare and guitar amp). A decent vocal mic is the Rode NT2. They're not made anymore, but should be able to find some lying around on eBay and other second hand sites. It's now the NT2-A which are still pretty damn good for the price.

Lastly, a pre amp for your vox microphone. You might be better in trying to find an external sound card which has built in pre amps rather than finding a seperate pre amp and sound card. Depending on your budget of course (If you give me a rough figure i'll try to help you out a bit more). If not, there's a range of pre's from £40ish up to thousands.

The last point which might help considering your software has run out - if you bought a decent sound card, they usually come with a software package (Usually Cubase) which would be much better for you.

Like i say, if you are wanting to buy something, show us a figure and i might be able to find a bargain for you.

Good luck from the UK :)

Tif,
