I just threw this up on my page. Well, I didn't throw it up, though it might make you throw up, who knows??? This song came about from a bass line I was just screwing around with which I combined with the chorus of another song I had written that didn't work. I'm hoping they go together well. Please let me know how everything sounds and if any levels are out of wack...It's my first mix, so I'm sure I'll be re-mixing it a few times based on the advice I get here. :)

Thanx!
SADDER DAY

After a few listens, I think the lead vox have to come down in the first verse, until the rest of the "band" comes in.

Good rockin' tune RAMI. I'm listening on headphones....

I agree that the opening vocals could come down a tad until all the instruments come in.

The build up is cool in the begining - dramatic and dynamic.

The vocals are actually a little low (IMHO) when the instruments come in. I can make out the words pretty much no problem, but the instruments seem louder. Though the panning allow you to hear everything and gives it space, I think the volume could come up.

The pre-amp continues to provide sweet tones.

Nice sustaining/feedback on the guitar.

The chorus' at the end are REALLY good. Perfect harmonies/tone/volume. It's a real good crescendo for the song.

Excellent ending....very suitable for a rocker such as this.

ido1957 :) :D :) :D

Thanx alot Ido...Yes, it needs a re-mix and a little bit more fader manipulation. Lower vox at the beginning and a little more in the later verses. Thanx for confirming it, I wasn't sure if it was just me. Thanx alot.

Damn, I can't delete this thread. I want to get rid of it until I re-mix the tune.
Just let it DIE!!! DIE!!! DIE!!!

Why? The idea is perfectly represented, you just have to do a few minor level adjustments.

Good tune! I like when the harmonies come in. The bass is very catchy!

Dammit! Now the chorus is stuck in my head!

That's how I know a tune works! ;)

Hehe...Thanx Phil. Yeah, I really do have to fix some of the levels. And I realised that I forgot to EQ the bass at all. That was the main reason I wanted to get rid of it. I'm working on it and will post a better version later on.

Thanx again.

Rami: I´m downloading now to listen at my monitors.

*My first advice about new song : don´t change (never more)your
bass strings. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Killer sound!

I can't bump this cause it's already on top ;)

This is like a feel good "Rock N Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" The way it builds the riff and the main rhythm/bass line reminds me of that song. Cool
Yeah, EQ that bass, drop some of that midrange... the bass part is like a star in this song so I vote for keeping some of the high end too.
I recommend bringing first part of guitar solo up some too :D That's cool at the end of the solo where the bass sticks out a bit, sounds cool
After solo vox a bit burried. Background vox can kill people (that's a compliment)
Anyway, good stuff man, thought I'd comment even though you're remixing it since I'm heading out camping for a bit. I'll recommend this one to other snakes in the grass dude  ;)

Thanx guys...ACDC???? Cool...Now that you mention it, it might have been sub-concious, but I can see what you're talking about, Snake. This song will be so much better whn I do some work on the re-mix.

CIRO...Thanx alot....Check your PM box on this site, buddy.

Very good song (as usual)
I was comparing with "Dirty Water" and "Fall apart" (rami mix)
I take the song playing on "loop", for 9 or 10 times to really feel it,not only give an "technical opinion".

As bass don´t plays the usual "low" notes (with exception the bridge at 2:27) , the sensation is ,obvously, different from the two i´m comparing.
I think for a first mix it´s very good.
I think it could be (maybe) less limited on final.
Great tambourine track!

You say that will makes (obvously) more mixes...
Post it , we would like to hear, ever is good have more "ears" in this case, you know... :)
If is your first recorded song after "thinking out loud"... congratulations !

I just uploaded new version. I think the bass is more tamed and the vocal levels are hopefully better. Like you said, CIRO, the bass line doesn't have too many low notes, besides the open "A", so it might seem to have less low's if compared to my other songs. Especially if you compare it "Dirty Water" which has that "chugg-a" low "E" in it. Thanx for all the great advice as usual.

By the way, I know some people prefer to download as opposed to just streaming, so if you go to my MUSIC PAGE, it's there for download. Don't be freaked out by all the pay-per-downloads. I kept this tune free since it's not on my new CD. It's at the bottom of the list and it says "FREE DOWNLOAD " under it.

Good tune! Nice hooks, good arrangement. I liked the bass lines (being mostly a bass player myself) but I especially liked the vocal harmonies - very tight.

My 2 cents: I thought the drums seemed a little too up-front. And when the distorted guitar first appears and has trailed off there seems to be some amp hum (?)

Thanx alot Eddie. You're absolutely right on both your critical points. I can't for the life of me get rid of the noise from my pick-ups. I can usually noise-suppress it out. But, because of the nature of the parts in this tune, it was noticeable and I didn't know what to do about it, other than try to fade it out when needed.
As far as the drum volume....Well I'm a drummer...hehe...My first few mixes of my tunes are almost always drum heavy. I'll mix it again, and usually by the third or forth mix, I manage to tuck the drums away a little bit.
Thanx for the great comments.

Cool bass intro - & the riff when the guitar comes in is Flash Harry too. One guitar has an ever so slight hint of RnR Ain't Noise Pollution that makes it extra fun.
Ah, un, err - I LIKE the hum/PUnoise. Gives it that cranked feel (Oh, not cranked in the refined Pseudoephedrine sense I ...oh, you know what I mean!)
As for the drum mix - It sounds RIGHT to my little ears - you should hear my 1st mixes - so much bass guitar & bottom no stereo can cope.
Good song, good recording, good mix. Put it all together & it's GOODER!

Thanx alot ray...I now hear the ACDC you guys are talking about...didn't even occur to me, because to me, this is a bass riff and then I got the idea to double it on guitar after, so I didn't even hear the "Noise Pollution"similarity...Hey but that's cool.
I'll let this sit for a while and see how it sounds to me in a few days...thanx alot.

Hey RAMSTER,

I missed this one, I like the bass line, a little more definition on the bass in the intro would be good, a little on the mids. However during the tune the bass sounds great.
The drums are sounding very crisp and alert, great stuff there RAMSTER.
The guitar tone you have dialled in here is sweet as well, you are dialling in some nice tones on a very regular basis now RAMI.

The song fits well together with your bass line and the separate chorus from another song.

Thanx for sharing with us RAMI! :)

Man, you always get a really great crunchy wide guitar sound in your songs...I really dig that.Bass guitar fits well in the mix...has it's own space.Drums sound great as usual. Sneaking a listen here at work so I cant really judge vocal levels as opposed to the instrumentation to well, but nothing is really sticking out to my ears. It's hard to review your stuff cause it sounds like I'm blowing smoke or something, but your music/style always has a great groove/production to it.Keep on rockin' man...I'll be listening!!!!

Thanx alot guys. Gorty and Variaxman, it means alot to me that you guys have nothing bad to say about my guitar sound (and if you did, I would hope that you don't hold back).:) I'll try to work on the bass sound and get it cut a little more in the intro, I do find it a little floppy. Thanx again for the listen and the comments.
