Thanks buddy...I just learned something. By the way...I am looking at these stand-alone studios....Roland/Korg/etc....so I am again confused....and wondering about serveral things.

When you compare a stand-alone unit (they mention that they can edit)....what is the advantage of using an audio interface and software over one of these? I would think that the editing features of a stand-alone unit would be less or lacking????

What does bus powered mean? Thanks cF

CF ..... This isn't a right or a wrong answer here both standalone and PC based recording system have their merits. But I will say that editing is usualy easier on a PC based system. I have a DAW and I can edit but it is definetly more time consuming then on a PC based system (things as simple cut & pasting text). But depending on your experience and your needs a standalone offers a lot of functionality in one box (a mixer, tracks, EQ, Dynamics, effects, multiple inputs sources, phantom power, sampling , ect) and potentially at lower start up cost to get up to the same capability with a PC based sytem. I am not trying to sell one over the other, just providing for food for thought. As to you Powered Bus question, I know what a buss is (Buss is the internal routing mechanism from input to tracks, from tracks to tracks, from tracks to mix down, to output) not sure what you are referring to when you say powered bus.

I sent you a post about your questions; but, the "Rock" says, PC programs do have better editing. I just do the track over if I screw it up. I save good tracks and use the virtual tracks and pick the best one with my SIAB. It's kind of like drum machines; I don't have the time to sit there and program every song I do; so, I pick a patch and go to it.
