Hi Camn,

No I don't sell those anymore. They have been replaced by the TUSL2 series.

I ran across that photoshop bug. I ended up replacing the board with an ABIT something or other. I don't know if the TUSL2 series addresses this problem or not. I suspect it does, but can't say 100% for sure. It's very specific to photoshop and easily reproducable.

If your thinking of buying a TUSL2-C, I can verify if the problem still exists, if you like.

forget it. Im getting a cubx today!
Im running a p2b-f now.. and I only RARELY crash PS5.5... though it is exactly what everyone talks about.
But theres a pair of CUBXs on clearance around the way... and if its a big problem, I'm sure I can manage to fix it like in that old link there. good times!

anyway, did you have any OTHER probs with the cubx?? I seem to recal you highly recommend it except for the PS bug. Oh, and I despise the 815. It would drive me insane to get a 815-based board. so no tusl2c for me!

I have to refrain from posting in the morning.

I read your post 'photshop , asus' and filled in the blanks with CUSL2-C, which is a different ASUS board and shouldn't have this problem, nor the TUSL2-C.

The TUSL2-C is a great board. I'd get one of those over the CUBX. I have built them for audio and used them for audio and they run fine.

It was the CUBX that gave me the photoshop grief. I did recommend the board at one point. Man, that was almost 2 years ago! I really can't keep all these names straight.

As for other problems with the CUBX, not that I'm aware of. BX chipset great and stable, but..... that was awhile ago, bit of a dinosaur now. Although, I'm still on the BX chipset, works well enough. I'm contemplating moving to AMD though as soon as more guinea pigs chime in.

Really though. The problem is obvious and easily reproducable. You will have this problem with photoshop, unless the newest version has addressed this (but I doubt it, the problem is on ASUS's end).

Anyway, It's a decent board and I'm fairly confident it will work well for audio app's. (But if it doesnt, don't blame me :) ).

Do you have a chip for it? I can't remember what chips it supports but it's getting very difficult to find celerons or PIII's in the sub-1GHz range.

I just recently built my step-daughter a machine using the TUSL2-C and am very impressed with it. Just for fun I loaded up fruity loops on it and let the demo tune roll and brought up every single meter/gadget I could find and it ran flawlessly. I was even able to get the latency down to 80ms using DS drivers for a cheapo AudioPCI soundcard.

emeric... did you check that link? its a fix for the old PS bug.. and looks like fun. I might have to try it. oh.. Ive got a celly 800, btw.. one of the 100mhz kinds.

But you guys.... Im so on the fence about this whole CUBX vs TUSL2-C thing in my mind. Maybe you'all can answer a couple questions.

now.. is it true that the i815 will only accept 2 double-sided modules of CAS2 PC133 RAM (double sided being 128MB+).... although it will accept 3 double-sided PC100 modules just fine?
and is it also true that ECC/Parity RAM isn’t supported by this chipset??

i ask cuz I have 4 128MB pc133 chips.. so, if I get an 815 board.. I am limited to 384MB at 100mhz.. or 256MB at 133....unless I want to go buy new memory?? I dont really want to do that.. am I am none-too-sure what variety my memory is... cuz Im pretty RAM-ignorant.

Now I know, slack.. that you say I dont need all that memory.. but I have it. So If I stick with the BX chipset... which has treated me fantastically..I can still use it all... and Ill have no conflicts to deal with in the middle of mixing our next record (which we start tracking this month.!)

anyway.. I think Im gonna get that cubx... since the PS bug has a workaround AND a fix... and the CMD driver is up to ata100 these days... and some cracker is releasing a RAID driver for it.. and I can get it for, like, $40 from the chop shop down the road.

BUt...ohwell. hopefull it'll work.. or Ill just limp along with my dying p2bf for a bit longer...
