When I first started recording on my 488 I was using my box system speakers as "monitors" before I even knew what monitors were. Anyway I tried the DBX and it made everthing sound washed out and toneless, my input levels were probably way out of wack too at that time. Since then I've been through a good set of hi-fi speakers and just last week I purchased my first set of nearfield monitors. All this time I had dismissed/forgotten about the DBX. Well I used it tonight and it's a totally different rich, full, hissless world. I've been a fool for so long and I just wanted to confess. The DBX is great! I'm impressed enough with the difference that I'm going to put off buying a DAW for awhile. Sorry if this post seems silly but I feel like I've been doing everything all wrong for a year and a half. Such a simple flick of the switch makes a world of difference. I'm an idiot.
