Hey all.

I'm going crazy here. I look at wav's from pro CDs, and they are, like, flat... all the same level all the time. right? so when i get done mixing a song, and some minor compression or limiting, i get nothing but dynamics. even though it sounds fine to my ear, it doesn't look "right."

1. is that what the mastering process does to the wave?

2. or do your wav's look all pretty and flat when you're done mixing.

3. wanna print screen and show us all what your waves "look" like?

I'll start. If anyone else is willing to share, please do, i'm really curious!

thanks.

here's my latest song....

WOW... Thanks! i don't feel nearly so bad now....

That was the most helpful response i could've gotten. my mixes may suck, but at least i'm not selling out to the square wave man!

When did flat wavs become "right"? Those big fat flat wavs are LOUD, but not necessarily right. dynamics is not supposed to be a dirty word.

i was looking at the waves from some of my songs and i was dissappointed that they weren't loud at all...or well, at least i've seperated myself from rickey martin and amy grant.
