As I said, the rest of the tune has been lost, and I just can't recreate it. I think I went on to talk about bombing raids and the devastation to humanity, but ???

I call it Fight Beneath the Table (mainly because of the song I grafted on after this portion). BTW, it's a folk song...

The sunken eyes of the pilot
As he sits along the bench
Watchin' the kiddies playin' war
Huddled in their trenches
He wants so much to tell them
Not to play those kind of games
He doesn't want his glory
He wants to be ashamed
But he knows he can't admit it
He's respected through and through
Mind's turning back again
To when he was fighting too
He was on a mission
Was back in ‘42
About the 12th of August
Or maybe it was June
But the dates don't make no difference,
It was where they were that counts
On a small Pacific island
Between two rifle mounts
Our hero and his buddy
Were in the RCAF
They signed up to see the world
But all they saw was death
They'd been to different places
France and Germany
They were fighting for their country
Against the enemy
Then they both got stationed
To an Air Force bomber team
In the South Pacific
All they could do was dream

For the days when they were younger
The days when they were stronger
The days are getting longer
When can we go home

As I said in the Prine thread - this is the kind of thing I try to do - provide a story, with imagery that you can see as well as feel. Hope I accomplished that.
Anyway, maybe I'll record it again and post the results.
Keep an eye out in the clinic.
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks, will let you hear it when I'm happy with it. Roll tape...
(in a manner of speaking - it doesn't feel right to say "spin up drive")
I was trying to write it from a Canadian perspective, and we had guys all over the place during WWII. If not with their own divisions, then seconded to the Brits or USA.
