well, you guys know me. there's gotta be a story with every tune. he he he he.

about 2 weeks before Christmas, on our usual wed. nite, I had the pleasure of having Jerry Lovelace showing up. He is one of the original members of the Spencer Hill band, that we started many years ago, and giged around for a few years. he's been laying low for a while, family matters, and doesn't come around much. anyway, Jerry was the main vocal for most of the bluegrass we played back in the day. and Perry came this nite and played bass. so it's myself and Jerry on guitars, Perry on bass and I put the mando on later. we did songs that I haven't done for many years, and poor Perry had never done'em. so with forgotten lyrics, missed chords, and ongoing chatter, have a listen. it was a blast.

song is "milwaukee"

maybe I'll put up another one if you like this one.

Sounds like fun!

Reminds me of back when I played fretless bass in a bluegrass band. Nice pickin' on that mando.:)

thanks Mr. Brane, I really miss full time laying down on the old mando. I need a guitar player. Hold me.

couple of tuning issues....aw, fuck it. It was cool.

:D

we didn't play in tune back then, so why should we now. he he he
when the man is on a roll, you just can't stop him. get me another beer.

Now that's a live recording! I love it. A guy I know builds mandolins. He's supposed to be fairly well known....Like Thompson.

Good mando pickin' for sure....post another please.

that was a goodun. Some really traditional pickin there. Anybody in that bunch of yours know how to do a little "heel and toe" work? You could sling a low mic and let em rip for a round... that`d be cool.

:)

as a matter of fact, Jerry was a member of the East Carolina clogging team, and did some shows with the Red Clay Ramblers back in his college days. He still goes to reunions with his pals. He does all the moves, like when you raise a leg real high and turn and shit like that. Looks real funny, but it does make a neat sound.
