Here's my plan, what do you think?

So it's about getting "the man" to listen to your songs, right? It doesn't matter how good your music, songs, vibe is unless you can get people to HEAR it?

OK there IS satisfaction in creating a song, it's fulfilling, something you can be proud of. But like most peolpe on this site I would like to be able to do music all the time and not have it interrupted by nine-to-fivesville.

The songs are done, I am happy with them, now I need more people to listen to them, maybe get somebody on "the inside" to project them to the market I believe they deserve.

What steps have I taken to make this happen?
The usual....

Blitzmailed them to record companies, production companies and all of that. Joined Taxi, had some tracks forwarded, unwilling to join other Taxi type organisations because Taxi is expensive enough and I believe the best anyway.

Now I've got a website and my plan is to encourage the "pop-idol" wannabe types to drop by, listen to a song, maybe they can make a demo recording and move on to the same blitzmail program themselves or maybe get heard by some Pete Waterman, Simon Cowell type performing my song.

It's kind of a pyramid scheme in that instead of just me hawking my songs, I'm encouraging others to do it too. There by having more people knocking on more doors with my songs.

I think the idea is good, but how can attract I the right people to my site?
Does anybody know what websites "singers-without-songs" hangout on? Are there any here?

My website is www.song-central.com

I'd love to know what the Gnarled Veterans of this board think of my plan, my site and maybe even the songs.

Let the debate begin.....

JOIN INDEBIZ!!!! David will have you making $100,000 a year in no time.....He even knows someone who actually makes $100,000 !! Better yet, check out the Starmaker Machine.....coming to a town near you.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I think anything you do to promote your music is better than nothing. I'm not so sure your idea will work, but who knows until you try. Keep us posted on your progress.

Interesting site...I like the guy who is spinning...great sense of time

Sounds like you have a plan. Stay focused, don't stop, keep writing, keep emailing, don't waste money on services that tell you they have the answers.....they don't.
If you really want to see and learn something cool save up and spend a couple of weeks in Nashville where everyone including the guy making fries at BurgerKing is a songwiter.
Build on the site ......try and set a writing goal ...add a song or two a week .....loose the lyrics and mini chord charts. If they like the song they will ask for the lyrics and knowone is going to play along.
Good work ....great start..........now give me 50 pushups and write a hit
Cheers

Keep up the persistance. Thats really the key to making it in music. You will do well if you do not give up. Let the hard lessons along the way(dues) make you more determined. Start to think of different and new ways to promote your music. The old ways dont work so well anymore.(e.g.) Find some kid at your local highschools to market your stuff for you. Make sure your website is included on your CD's art somewhere or even on the CD itself. Come up with some gimmick that the kids may want to be part of.
Good luck and never, never, never give up...

Thanks for the support guys. Any ideas on how to attract people to the site?

I'm a long way from Nashville...Europe! And I don't believe the streets are paved with gold there but I'm sure if I visited I'd pick up something
