Hey!

I'm re-mixing/tracking some older tunes I hadn't really paid attention to for a while, so I might be posting stuff that some of you have already helped me with.

This is kind of a weird song, and I don't know if it works. But I had fun doing something a little different.

It's a 3 part song, something along the lines of "Band on the Run", even though I'm not a big McCartney solo fan. I just starting putting together this tune, and then I heard "Band on the Run" and was surprised at how much I copied it, sub-conciously. Not that any part is the same, but the feel of all 3 parts and their transitions are eerily similar.

So, let me know if this works or not. I wanted to do something that didn't sound like everything else I do.

Thanx

RISE UP (parts3,5,9)

A really nice tune and recording.

The only thing that was off to my bad ears was that the mids seemed a little caved....so I put a reverse smilie in the WMP EQ...and it seemed to pump a little better...some mid drive to the vox and guits. And the high parts the bass played were carrying better. The bass drum was heard. :D

Nice work on the harmonies and drum sounds. Doesn't sound like McCartney to me. Parts of the music and harmonies made me think of Supertramp....

Doesn't sound like McCartney to me.

Thanx Jeff, that's kind of a relief. :D

About the mids, did you find this was true through out the tune, or just one of the sections?. I treated them almost as 3 different songs when it came to tracking and mixing. I even used a different snare for the 3rd part.

Thanx alot Jeff. Your reviews are always appreciated.

Sounds cool. I'd agree with Jeff, a little scooped sounding, but nice mix overall.

I really liked the harmonies. I didn't get a scooped mids feel FWIW.

The bass has a weird attack. Some little "thwump" on the attack of each note. It's particularly noticeable when the bass is solo'd. Check the bass level on a home stereo. I'm on headphones so I can't be sure. But it sounds a little loud. Might cripple your ears on a home stereo.

I'm pretty sure the kick is too strong in the third section.

Loved the vocal layers. I always like that kind of thing.

I can hear what MMM mentioned on the bass in the intro section. That could be tweaked a bit - almost like you've sharply edited out some noise but not close enough to the note.
The song - EEEZZZ GOOD SIGNOR!
No BOTR to my ears (then again being a McCartney Sceptic - I don't believe he's alive - it's a Dolly the sheep type sad clone - Paul died of shame for the poorly develped songs on side 2 of abbey road. Mon you should see his act with balloons and the dog taht jumps through hoops - such a sad clone - painted smile doesn't cover the bile).
No, terrific song - finish developing it - I didn't have any scoop isssssues. But I do have some dead freqs in my head (& a real freq in my bed).

Wow, don't think I've heard this one before....great project!
Wonderful arrangement, it developes beautifully. The harmonies are brilliant. Loved the slide guitar and if that snare of yours was made of chocolate I'd want to eat it, it sounds delicious! Don't know about the mids, sounded OK on my phones, but I'll be listening again when I'm home so I can add this to my Rami collection.....;)
Great work, bro!

Joey :):):):)
