Heres a Song...

...that I recorded with a good friend of mine. The chord structure and lyrics are his. It's a 'thank you' for the inspirational music left by a band that seems to be universally loved.

I'm sure it won't be too hard to guess which one.

I would direct link, but I think it's a no-no to copy and paste the url from my nowhereradio artist page to here (right?) and I can't remember how to go about it the kosher way.

I've recorded a good few songs with this guy lately, and this mix is giving me the most trouble.

Any thoughts ?

Just use www.nowhereradio.com/username now, and replace username with the username you signed up with of course.

You'll be able to change this shortcut address on the NWR3 release, EndlessCoda and I think we'll be releasing it on Sunday. (We'll see how smoothly the changeover goes)

The un-kosher way to do things is to link directly to the song (so no-one evers sees anything about NoWhere), linking directly to your artists page is fine however.

I'm not sure what band you're talking about ;), but I thought the song was cool. A little bit like Dear Prudence, I'd say. I liked the drums, how did you record them? I thought the vocal could have been louder. Great job!

Drum recording:

Bass drum - Sennheiser e602
Snare - Sennheiser e604
Rack toms - AKG880
Overhead AKGC1000

All drums were recorded using the pretty noisy, harsh pre's on the Behringer Eurorack MX2004 desk, into a Delta 44, and into Cool Edit.

Sounded nice. I agree the vocals were lost in the mix. Bump em up and will be much better =)

Thanks for the listen and the comments Mr.Q and Fangar.

Updated mix now up.

After further listening I did the following:

Took you advice on the vocal...put the main vocal up a notch and the l/r harminies up a notch and a bit.

Drums seems to be a bit overpowering for the feeling of the song when I listened today so I took them down a notch.

The right hand arpeggio guitar bit seems to be overpowering the left bit, so I took that down a chunk.

Everything seems to sit alot better now, I guess I should have waited until my ears were rested before I posted it. Anyway, anyone else who wannts to listen, comments appreciated on the updated mix.

I case anyone hadn't guessed the band that the song is reffering to is the Beatles, maybe it's not as obvious as I thought...'Four young soldiers statues in line...' cover of Sgt. Peppers...no ?... OK

Good job on the drums.
I have to agree that the voice could use some volume.

Cheers...yeah I'm finally starting to get a decent drum sound I think.

Just out of interest, did you listen to the original song or the updated mix (theres two on the page now) ?

I did raise the vocals on the uppdated mix, just wondering if you feel they could go more.

I listened to both mixes.....
I will only comment on the re-mix....
seems you received and implemented some "sound" advice
(pardon the pun!)
The pan on the guitars is great....I liked how thay mixed...
The vox still seem like they could use more volume...especially the harmony track(s)....
I could barely hear them...
especially around 4:20....

The music is cool.....
I enjoyed it very much..
