Okay, so Waldo was kinda bored today... And he's had this dumb ass Bass line in his head for months... Now, he's not a bass player, in fact, not even a very good guitar player. He doesn't even own a bass.
So, what is Waldo to do? He borrows a bass. But, he has no amp, and no microphones... Even worse, no direct box at his disposal (remember, Waldo sold all his gear to fund NWR, well, all that was remaining after the other stuff was stolen).
So he's stuck, right? Hang on... Sound cards have their own little cheap ass pre-amp for crappy PC mic's in them... Hmmm, I wonder... Yep, it kinda sorta works!
Anywho, a bunch of 'macgyver' type wiring later, Waldo 'simulates' a direct box into the computer, on a very shitty 32 bit sound card. And, badaboom, gets the first rough sketch of the idea out of his mind, and into a recorded track.
Now, I'm not looking for 'recording critiques' on this, I know there is a couple pops here and there due to the 'macgyver' type wiring (whenever I moved, 'pop'), and I know there is this sybilant echo in the background, amongst other things. I wasn't expecting much out of this, only to get the idea down.
What I'm looking for, is someone to colab with and put together a full song out of this very 'raw' bass line.
It's recorded direct, zero effects, zero filtering, just raw bass. But the damn thing won't leave my head, and I think if we can work together and turn it into something, the damn thing will leave me alone!
