Guitar User.
ok i thought it would be time to let you know what i do.
i have a 6 by 7 room in a trailer with a slant ceiling and a sliding door that runs to another room with can be shut off fron the rest of the house as well.
inside i have a compaq presrio 2100 laptop and a echo indigo sound card
that works with the bus to give me a PCI its a very good sound card,
then i have a Phonic mixer a small one with 4 XLR inputs and 48v phantom power
this runs a AT4040 mic then i have two altec lansing moniters and a sub.
the software i use is some stuff that i like called "audacity" its an open source program thats free! it is a multi track program with built effects,
i record and mix on this then i take that and run it through a program "Goldwave"
a great shareware program that i use it makes a smooth recording.
i also use Sony Soundforge 7.0 for its great effects (which i can also run through goldwave) all these programs are simple to use and make good recordings. they are not Cubase or Sonar but they are good. my room sound is pretty good i may want a better bass trap soon but its pretty much what i need. since i have the flex to be able to record late at night outside noise is not much and i am shut off from the rest of the house
:p i record acoustic guitar and vocals as well as violin and some sinth but less of that than say my accordian i double on light percussion and very small amounts of bass. other mics are a shure SM58 AKG 777 these do about all i need :) :D
