This is my second cover song. I didn't really like it at first but it has grown on me since then. Please critique it. I would love to hear an analysis of how I did in making this cover song. I suggest putting this on Soundclick or somewhere else. The download is so slow that very few are gonna listen to it. I will listen in a bit, but its like a ten minute download and I have blazing fast cable.

I'm not sure about SoundClick... They have very strict guidelines on Cover songs... And I don't know of anywhere else that will allow me to post it.

Sounds good. The breathing is a bit of a problem, its pretty noticable. You could edit that easily enough.

The music is good, I would suggest more song and less filler. The overall ideas are quite good, sound is good, you did a very good job of putting your own spin on this and not just copying the original. I dont like how it just stops at the end :confused:

Good stuff, worth the long download. :cool:

Thanks a lot for listening! I will definitely take care of the breathing. I'll try to do something about the ending... Maybe some kind of synth outro or something. I agree about the filler thing. I would like to shorten up up a bit. I'm not shue how I'm going to do it but I'll think of something. Thanks for the compliments.
 
I think a simple fadeout could work. I listened on phones so the breathing is more noticable. Also, since I play violin I have the mic fairly close to my mouth and I pick up a lot of breathing that drives me nuts, so I am a bit more attuned to it than most. Good luck with this one.
 
Yes it's a long download - as DavidK said many won't have the patience to wait. How big is the file? Is it MP3 or never mind - I switched to download method and it's 6.33 MB 192K MP3......Try lightningmp3.com maybe.....

Well here's my review finally (ten minute download).....

The first keyboard patch (during the intro/and later) is a bit thin and cheesy sounding for my taste. It does not keep up to the quality of the rest of the piece.

Very original take on the tune - cool - high quality and very listenable.....

I'm really sorry about the download time but I'd rather it be slow than have you not hear it at all. :)

Thanks for listening. I kind of feel the same way about the synth but then again, I don't. I needed something there to bring the song in and I was running out of ideas. I almost put some backwards masking in there but then I slapped myself and came to my senses. I'm vary happy that I pulled off the originality... I was really trying not to make an exact copy. I did that with a Deftones song and it was terrible.

I like what you've done...nice vox. They give a great feel to the tune...different. Nice tune overall, and the mix is pretty good.

awesome! it has a 'cold wave' feel to it (hope u know what i mean) i realy like!!! as good as the original.

I have a weird situation...

I was messing around with some effects on this song and I sped it up using the pitchbender. Basically, the song is now playing at a higher speed so that it's a bit faster and the pitch is altered. I really like the way it sounds! It gives the song a bit of a popish vibe and I love it!

Here's my question... Should I just apply the effect and call it good or should I record it again in the new tune and speed? I'm afraid that if I record it again, I'll lose the magic that was there before.

What should I do?
 
does the sound quality suffer? can you hear the audio has been stretched digitaly? if not why should you be going through the effort of re recording it?

know what? post it and let us be the judge.
