Been working on the Hendrix tune, 1983 A Meman I should turn to be.

Quite a challenge and lots of work.

Just put my Strat back together with a new Black perloid pickguard and then I used the Strat on this tune.
Hopefully the tone is more to the liking of the vintage guys. :)

I am singing this one, cover the pets ears.

Tone chain.

Cool!

Listening now. The vocals could use some 5khz to me. They are a little muffled sounding on my setup. possibly a little air around 15k or so too Or maybe a mid pull in the right place. I get the feeling some of it is due to the verb. don't know if you have a eq on your verb but you may try that too.
It could be a vintage vocal sound yopur going for, if so you have that pretty covered.

There is some cool shit going on in hear. Very psychodelic :D It's like Hendrix meet old Pink Floyd meets Cream! Very cool.

Great job!

Edit: I should have read closer, It is a hedrix tune. Drrrrr. I never heard anything of his quite that psycodelic.

pretty cool, i woulda never thought id hear a cover of this song

nice job

Thanks Freud and Nick, it's done in the psychodelic spirit for sure.

Spent a bunch of time getting all those special effects in place.
It took 1/2 a day just to figure out how to get that low octave evil voice effect.

I'll mess with some EQ and see what happens.

I bet those effects took a while! I was thinking that when listening, how long it would take to get all the timing down let alone the sounds

The vox really remind me of someone I just don't know who :D It's something from back in that era though. Good job on those!

Sounds pretty cool....Nice tone on the guitar. Drums stick out a bit...the cymbals. Overall, good tune. I like it.

Thanks Dog,
I tune in here now and then just to see your new avatars. :D

I think you are right about the drums, especially the high end cymbals.

The vocals are a little muddy - as suggested before...some eq to brighten them up maybe. Pretty wet too....But take that with a grain cause I'm not familiar with the original.

Lots of work went into this and it has produced a great result... Plenty of cool guitars in this.... Love the solo - tone and playing.

:) :D :) :D

I thought this was really great!!!

Just great all around. Great song. Great tone & the solo was really smokin'! The vocals are fine & really do Hendrix justice. Muddy? Have you guys ever heard original Hendrix records? This take is not muddy, (vocals or otherwise), it's faithful and sounds great. It totally evokes the acid drenched 60's............ ;)

I did mention it was a vintage voc sound;) Never heard this song before though. I have some Hendrix (cd's) missed this one though.

Wow! Super cool choice to cover..... big thumbs up for that alone!I think you have done a very fine job.....this is one of Hendrix's most psychedelic songs and you have definitely captured the vibe well. The vocals echos are cool as well as the special effects. No nits here just digging it man!

Thanks Guys.
I wasn't trying to make the vocals come out a certain way, they just came out that way. I do agree they need some sparkle or I just just leave them alone. :D

Anyone that want's to check out Jimi's original version, it's on the Electric Ladyland album, disc #2.
It's 13:37 long. I cut out the huge dreamy sequence and it's still 5:30.

That's very impressive,...

any way you slice it!........... ;)

without a doubt, the most obscure jimi cover i have ever heard. what a huge effort on your part. thanks for reminding me of this great track. the guitar solo blazed out of the pyschedlic slop, slapped me in the face, and left me happy it had done so.
