Helps fostex d80 + yamaha mg16 connection pleeaase

I really need some help connecting my fostex d80 to my yamaha mg16 mixer, what connects to what or are they not compatible

Ideally, you need a patchbay to save lots of awkward recabling behind. The 8 line outs would go to your input channels, and the mixer has 4 sends (groups) so they can go to the mixer. the snag really is when you are using mics too, you run out of channels, unless you press the stereo ones into action. It's doable but a faff. The patchbay gives you the ability to route things more easily. what you will struggle with is recording all 8 channels at one time - so that would involve some creative bodges.
 
That mixer really isn't designed for 8-track recording, but you could do one or two at a time fairly easily. Route the recorder outputs to mixer channels 1-8 line inputs, route group outputs to the recorder (which is where a patch bay would be handy). Use the top two XLR inputs through the group sends to record.
