Hi all. I am glad there is a place for newbies so I dont waste anyone's time.
I have a mixer Behringer xl3282 and an M audio delta 1010 rackmount interface and have it all hooked up but I keep reading that I need a pre amp to record my vocals. I havent tried because I dont want to hurt anything.
One question would be do I by pass the mixer and go into a pre amp then the interface?
I want to use the board to mix, not the computer controls.
Can I "patch" it in somehow? I have aux's etc etc and NO I dont even own a pre amp yet because I wasnt sure if I really need one. This is a home studio with almost no budget left.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

Stacy

I'm not familiar with that mixer. If you can post a link to it I can check, but more than likely it has preamps that you can use. Just plug your mic into one of the channels and use the channel direct out or insert (if it has them); or use the main output from the mixer into your 1010LT. If you're using an insert jack, you'd plug your cable into the first click only. The preamps on your mixer might not be the best quality, but you should be able to work with them until you can afford something of better quality. Good luck.

im a behringer user myself and i couldnt even find ur product bro...i could help you out if you can post a link to that products info

If you are referring to the MX 3282 mixer, then it should already have built-in preamps for your microphone? Does it have an XLR (mic input) and a "Phantom power" switch on it? If so, it has preamps. If not, you'll need one.

Now, the behringer preamps are generally not the best preamps in the world, but they will get the job done until you can afford something better.

Clue- Mixers contain preamps. As noted above, not usually great preamps. If there are XLR ins (3 pin mic connectors), you've got preamps.-Richie

Ok I do have XLR's I think I gave the model of the board wrong but it was corrected for me. You people are so nice I cant thank you enough... But I will be back with more silly questions LOL

Thanks again
