Ok...Ok... so I am about 10 minutes away from straping my computer onto my bumper and ramming my car into a wall!!!
I've done the whole music xp thing set up... I followed the whole thing... but I'm still getting clicks and pops... I'm not clipping the signals... they can be soft or hard... but my computer keeps clicking and popping.... I've set the audio buffers to the max, and nothing... I'm getting really close to jumping off a bridge. Can any one please tell me what to do....? I've used the help files.. but no luck... I have a P4 1.4, 60gig HD @7200rpm, 256 ddr ram, radeon 7500 video card, delta 44 sound card. I'm only using 3 midi vst instruments and it sounds like I'm making popcorn. Please help.
thanx in advance

I just went out and bought more ram... now I have 512, but the frigging pops and clicks are still there.... who wants to help me tie my computer to my bumper?

Excessive pops/clicks can be caused by a digital loop (ie, connecting the wrong digital gozouta into the gozinta), or bad sample rate mismatches. Check and re-check where your digital I/O is picking up its clocking signal from...

Hi redeyez,

Maybe if you post a bit more about your setup,
someone might be able to help. Post your mobo/
chipset, drivers used for your Delta, XP service pack
updates, what mode of Windows...etc.

Have you tried a different, or updated driver for the Delta?

Mike

Ok... Here are my specs..... my mother board... not sure who makes it... but it has a VIA VT8753 (P4x266) and a VT8233, I have a 423 pin P4 1.4, 512 DDR ram, 60 Gig HD partitioned into 2 40/20 @ 7200rpm. ATI Radeon 7500 video card, Delta 44, usb midi keyboard Evolution MK-255c. I just downloaded a new driver for the delta for pro audio, it's a beta, I was sure that was it.... then same thing.... so I moved the moved my sound card to another slot, and still.... frig....
It doesn't click and pop at all times... and it got better with the new driver but it still happens. Also... Latency with my vst instruments is great, but with my GM device, there is a small gap between me hitting the not and me hearing it, driving me nuts...
I cry myself to sleep every night trying to get this computer to run smooth! Like it should.

ps... thanx everyone for their help....

I'm 99% I have the awnser my friend..

VIA Chipsets and DELTA's = Crack snapple and pops. I went true this. I had a Gigabyte mobo with VIA chipset. It took me about 6 months to end up to this conclusion.

and

Gigabyte are not using VIA chipsets anymore, they use intel's.

as I know, you have 2 options:

1- A new motherboard (Asus/intel chipset = no problems)
2- Windows 2k or 98, WITH DirectX 7!!!!!!! (but some plugins need Dx8 so...)

Take a look at this forum, you may find some awnsers there.

I know what kind of trouble your passing through and I hope you will find an awnser faster then I did.

I was in this situation like 2 1/2 years ago so, maybe Midiman now work a bit more on their drivers, instead of use their customers be their beta testers.

...when I got my new PC, I also sold my Delta 1010. No regrets.

I HOPE you l'find some awnsers dude, I really do.

Good luck!!

good choice

I dont think you will have that kind of problem with this one.

I obviously didnt tried ALL the mobos!!! :)

But this lloks fine :)

I've been mucking about all day on the computer trying to make the pops and clikcs go away... the last thing I did was went into the bios menu, and changed the irq settings to manual.... Tommorow I will do a good test on it... we'll see if that will solve my prob.
but if it doesn't and you guys think I should get another Mother Board.... what do you recomend? and why?
Thanx again for all the input you all have put in....

Any Asus wust do it dude. The point is simply avoid one with VIA chipset.

So, go to a good store, bring a description of your PC to make sure you will end up with one that can manage what you have in your system and I'm pretty shure your problem will be resolved.

About IRQs, it always a good thing that windows is installed in STANDARD PC instead of the default ACPI config. This allow you to decide to not share the IRQs of the audio card.

good luck!
