Okay, i have a big problem. I just bought the Sound Blaster Extigy to hook up my Fostex FD-4 into the line in so i can record in cakewalk. the problem is this. i was working fine last night with the exception of some fuzz and stuff, but now cakewalk wont even pick up a signal from my sound card! i can my guitar and stuff fine through the speakers but i can not get cakewalk to pick it up and record it. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN! i think it may be blown, which would be wierd because i bought it yesterday.

that's rough dude

Cakewalk and Sonar scan for inputs when they launch.

Even the slightest configuration change will screw up Cakewalk and it will forget what inputs you had.

Best go to the respective configuration menu and select your soundcard again.

Extigy ey?? hrm ... may exhibit some latency due to the nature of it's interface .. but all in all, it's a great entertainment card.

16 bit ADC's and 24 bit DAC's.

You should get some decent quality out of it.

If i can suggest one thing:

I you are not a gamer and don't plan to watch DVD's on your computer .... i.e if you want to make music and music only.

return it.

go get yourself a midiman audiophile 2496 (or any simple card that does 24/96). It's about the same price and has full 24 bit encoders/decoders and can sample at much higher frequencies. Since it's a PCI card, it'll have less latency that the extigy.

Extigy = entertainment
2496 = music production

i did that. thank you for your advice to a dumb newbie. :)
