Hey everybody, Im new here, and i want to start building a home studio..

I've been advised that I should invest in a mixer and a hard disk recorder, or possibly a unit combining the 2..
..Or a mixer that i can run into a Laptop, utilizing firewire and cubase SX (being familiar with that anyway).

Im on a budget (being a student!) so im looking for the best for the cheapest amount.. my limits £1000 including Mics etc

So yeah, if anyone has any advice, please share! :) Thanks!

bloody hell!?

i guess the second question is what do YOU want instead of what you should get from everyone who wouldnt equal your 1k euros if they all put their 2 cents (american) in. whats the ratio on dollar to euro anyways?

Will you be recording a track or two at a time, or a full band? If the latter, the budget might be a bit of a problem. Also, do you have a laptop and Cubase already? Or would those be included in the £1000?

Well, I want to be able to record bands, but probably only on about 6 tracks at once (eg mic-ing up the drum kit)

as for the budget, I already have SX and a laptop so thats not included in the budget, however I am more experienced using hard disk recording..
