For reference,
Behringer Xenyx Q1202USB
Windows 7
I want to be able to play Skype/computer audio through the mixer into the speakers while at the same time playing microphone audio through the mixer to both the speakers and the computer.
So far, I have only been able to get it so that either the microphone sounds through the speakers OR the computer, not both at the same time while simultaneously having the computer sound through the speakers. So either I can hear the microphone's sound or the people on the other end can. If both of us can hear the microphone, I cannot hear the computer sounds or the other people's voices. So either the mixer receives sound from the computer or it sends.
I've been researching a bit and supposedly this is to prevent a feedback loop. However, there should be no feedback loop if the usb out takes all tracks except for the usb in track.
I have been able to get it so that it "works" in that the computer is sending sounds and receiving them, and the microphone sounds through the speakers as well; however, even though the computer shows that it sends I can hear nothing from the speakers. This tells me that it is not the computer settings but the mixer. I have tried everything I can think of, including using stereo mix - still no dice... it shows that there is output but nothing comes out of the speakers.
The only fix I've found is to use a separate cable out from the computer's headphone jack into the mixer, then wiring the speakers out of the mixer through CTRL ROOM OUT, sending fx to ctrl room and putting up the fx volume on the mic input. Then I must set the fx volume all the way up on the computer headphone input and lower the LEVEL to below the 0 mark so as to avoid feedback loop (otherwise it will get sent back into the computer through the USB and I don't want that).
I would at this point give up and blame the mixer, except that the friend I 'inherited' this mixer from says that it worked for them, without the use of any other software. Of course they can't remember how they got it to work.
