Hello I have purchased a MRS 1044 and have loved it so far. I have recorded all the material I want to put onto a computer and last night when I turned it on, it went through the usual start up of checking drives and then it goes to a window where it says version 1.2 R00001 and hangs there and will not go any further. I cant get a hold of anyone to tell me how to get past this because sampson does not have tech support on the weekend so I need all of your help. Do any of you have any ideas? Hell I cant even find any information about the warranty on this piece of equipment so if any of you have it could you tell me about it? Is there a way to reset the unit? ( I know this will be a total loss of my data in it) Any help to a rookie home recorder is greatly apprieciated.

I have the 1044cd and it uses a factory cd to restore it. I went through my manual and I also couldn't find anything on your problem. Sorry I couldn't help, hope you get it taken care of.

mrs1044 restore

I was wondering the same thing as I was getting it out of the box. I ordered the USB interface and in the manual it tells you how to re-format the internal hard drive and restore the system and demo files. There is a cd included with the USB card that contains all of the necessary files. What I would like to know now is if I can replace the 20GB Seagate Harddrive with a 40GB that comes with the MRS1044CD.

Seems to me that the USB interface should have been standard. Seeing how easy it is to re-format the drive, easy access to the harddrive itself would have been nice.

explorer - Why would you want to switch to a smaller hard drive ? Just curious ... Although the Zoom OS is proprietary, I'd think it's possible to put it on a different hard disk - as long as you have the built-in CD version or a USB card ...

I have a non-CD 1044 with USB card ... so far it's been working out fairly good for me ... I record on the Zoom and moving projects back and forth to/from my PC without a hitch ... I must say I haven't played with it as much as I should, there're so much stuffs ... Programming the bass/drum so far hasn't been quite easy just yet ...

There's a user group (in case you haven't already noticed) ..you may be interested in:

Good luck

Hi Badfinger,
Sorry that i was not clear. I have MRS1044 with a 20GB. I want to put in a 40GB. Any idea what the underlying OS is? I wonder if the disk gets fragmented to the point where reformatting every once in a while might be a good idea?
