So now that I have my Yamaha MOX6, there are things that I want to do but not sure how to go about doing it. I am reading the manuals and understanding some (little) of it, but still having a hard time knowing how I can get the sound I want. It seems like they either speak of the very simple things, or jump to very complicated things and assume you know all the stuff in between. Or maybe I really don't know the basics and I just think I understand some of it!
My equipment: Macbook Pro, Logic Pro DAW, Yamaha MOX6, Roland FP-7. These are some of the things I want to do:
-I need a timpani drum roll that will last for a certain amount of time (2 measures in 4/2 plus accounting for a rit.). I have found a single timpani hit as a part of a preset Orchestra Drum Kit. When I hold his note down or use the sustain pedal, it does nothing to it to create a roll. I know that there is a specific sound for a Timpani roll in waveform list, but I cannot figure out how to access that (is that something I should be able to access and edit?). Also I have been able to do a timpani roll by editing the Arpeggio function, but I am unable to make the roll last longer, it will just continue to loop the entire roll for a certain amount of time while holding down the key- so it starts, stops, then starts again. Should I just record this into Logic and then create a loop?
-I also have an FP-7 that I would like to try using since it's a full set of weighted keys. Is it possible to play the Yamaha sounds on my FP-7? This is called making the FP-7 a MIDI controller, correct?
Any help would be appreciated...there's just so much to learn!!
