Help with us-122 and cool edit pro

As a newbie, I was wondering how to configure the us-122 and cool edit pro. I can insert a midi file but I can't hear any sound....what I don't understand there is midi in and out on the us-122, I guess they are used for instruments...can I setup the us-122 to hear midi's??? via the usb?

CEP won't play back MIDI files. The MIDI implementation is minimal.
