I'm not looking to spend a LOT of money, or trying to sound like a cheap doucher. I'm a newbie to the world of production, But I'm in need of advice mixer wise, PC/mac wise, monitors, head phone docks, and a few other things. I've got the mic, compressor, mic stand, pop stop, guitars, electric drum set (and acoustic set but no drum mics). Not looking to make a pro album or anything, just some shitty demos for song tweaking and such. I'm looking to spend about 300$ on a mixer, nothing FANCY, possibly with a CD burner built in if at all possible for the price. I've used windows all my life but I've been told MAC is the way to go when it comes to recording, I hear its a LOT easier. (I'm not the smartest person when it comes to technological stuff.) Out of Adobe, Garage band, pro tools, or any other recording software for that matter, what seems to be the easiest? I would just like to get 2 Semi decent monitors as they will only be used when the song is finished. I'm looking to get a 4 input head phone dock. What I'm pretty much asking is, for pricing on the listed items, a reference to a semi decent (12+ channel) mixer, an online site for used studio gear, and I guess, just some input for a beginner! Thanks for the help.

EDIT: is an interface such as Qbase needed if I have a mixer? and what kind of pre-amp is necessary? I'm not even sure what a pre-amp is, like I said, I'm a newbie!

If you plan on recording with a computer, why are you looking for a mixer? You need an interface with as many channels (or more) as you will be recording at one time. The mixing is done with the software you will be using. The headphone amp will plug into the monitor output of the interface. You're not going to get an interface with more than a few channels AND a set of monitors for under $300, however.
